Peter Tate and his wife Naomi welcome guests to “Col di Casale”
Col di Casale: a rustic exterior with a regal interior. Nestled in Montone, a picturesque town in the province of Perugia, Italy’s verdant heartland, with just over 1,500 inhabitants and a history dating back to the early Middle Ages.
Col di Casale is a ‘Provencal house’ style art gallery, complemented by a spacious terrace offering sweeping views of untouched hills and woodland.

Constructed in the 18th century, the villa doubles as an art gallery, showcasing exquisite Italian and English antiques: from sumptuous carpets to masterful paintings and elegant candelabra. The whitewashed ceiling beams, terracotta floors and expansive windows flooding the rooms with natural light create an ambiance of refined luxury. Step onto the large panoramic terrace to soak in vistas of pristine nature, where rolling hills adorned with a myriad of green hues stretch out before you.
The villa epitomizes the “Art of Living“, encapsulating the opportunity to embrace life to its fullest, embracing nature, history, art, culture, elegance, sports, comfort and deriving from it an extraordinary energy.
It comes as no surprise that Col di Casale itself is considered a masterpiece, given that its proprietors are both artists: Peter Tate and his partner Naomi.
Peter Tate is a renowned figure in the acting world. He has shared the stage with Alan Bates at the National Theatre, portrayed numerous classical and modern theatre characters, authored and directed successful plays, culminating in his recent, memorable interpretation of Picasso, driven by a shared passion for experimentation and self-discovery.
After all, the concept of the Grand Tour originated across the Channel…
“We were struck by the landscapes, then by the rich history, culture and the warmth of the locals, along with the serene atmosphere that permeates this place. We delight in hosting friends from New York, London, Paris, including international film stars, as this is our world.”

Umbria and Tuscany rank among the preferred destinations in our country, long cherished by intellectuals, poets and artists as havens for the heart and soul. The Tates epitomize this spirit, making Col di Casale their cherished sanctuary since 2001 when they acquired the property, embarking on a restoration journey between 2006 and 2008.
