Still traveling in the Land of the Sun

Ev Icon Italy 2 – Villa Triscele

We said goodbye to Tuscany. The center, the heart, the very soul of our journey. If you missed the article, catch up on it here.

From there, after a short summer break, we set off again crossing the entire boot; we went from land to sea and then back to land, and arrived in Sicily. In Messina, Giardini Naxos. Villa Triscele was love at first sight for us, our new favorite place. It welcomed me, pampered me, and captivated me with its pop soul and minimalist, elegant design.

Giardini Naxos is a place that welcomes you with its contrasts: the deep blue sea crashing on the shore, the mountains that embrace it, and the light that changes from hour to hour, making each view different from the last. It is an atmosphere that vibrates with authenticity, capable of slowing you down and drawing you into the gentle rhythm of Sicilian days. And as the bright colors and Mediterranean scents intertwine, you feel that here beauty is not only visual, but sensory, enveloping. It is no coincidence: Giardini Naxos also preserves the ancient memory of the first Greek settlement in Sicily, a silent bridge between myth and reality, which still seems to breathe today among its streets and sea views.

Infinity pool, sea view, large windows: Villa Triscele was an unforgettable stop on our trip to the island of sunshine, but it wasn’t the only one. One location at a time, I experienced this land one charming property at a time, each offering an original interpretation of the most authentic Sicily.

We decided, as we did last year, to split up and see different places. If you missed the first season of Icon Italy, you can find it here.

My welcome at Villa Triscele

I arrived at Villa Triscele in the early afternoon of a hot September Monday. The villa stood imposingly before me, and I felt almost small, but immediately enchanted and happy, serene, at peace…

Everything seemed perfect, in complete harmony with the view, the landscape, and the sea. And with me, too. I immediately unpacked my bags and settled in by the pool, soaking up the relaxation and the sea view. The curtains moved sinuously, providing shade one moment and letting the sun gently kiss my forehead the next. The light reflected in the water of the pool and the sea; voices and sounds in the distance, but too far away to distract me from the sense of peace that was washing over me. A good book, the cool wind caressing my face. I didn’t feel the need for anything else. I think this was the sense of “slow living” that everyone talks about now… often without ever truly experiencing it. Small, simple moments that fill your soul and heart, building my personal treasure chest of memories.

I got so carried away by this emotion that, before I knew it, the sun began to set: a huge ball that turned from yellow to red and descended to the horizon, hiding behind that invisible line that separates the sky from the sea. If only I were a painter, I could have captured that exact moment on canvas. Instead, I entrusted it to my memory and these lines. And, since I am a travel blogger, I “only” took a photo, shot some video footage, and began to jot down my feelings, emotions, and thoughts of that moment, to share them here, in this article. I hope I’ve managed to convey some of that feeling to you; sharing my emotions with you, the reader, and inviting you to visit such beautiful places is more than just a job: it is practically a mission, that of sharing beauty and wonder!

My farewell to Villa Triscele, but not to Sicily

It was wonderful spending these days at Villa Triscele.

It was lovely to relax by the pool; it was rejuvenating to cook and eat with the sea as my constant companion. I also treated myself to a dip in the jacuzzi in my room while admiring the sunset. I got to meet the owners, Antonino and Maria, who were generous in sharing the soul of this place. It was difficult to leave…

If I hadn’t had to set off for the next stage of this immersive journey in the land of sunshine, I would definitely have extended my stay. Suitcases packed, I didn’t look back. On to the next adventure!
