WELCOME BACK IN TOSCANA – PART ONE

Sea, mountains, hills, history, artistic towns, exquisite food and wine… Places that are undeniably iconic… Magical glimpses that you stumble upon almost by chance…

Yes, we are back in Tuscany. We left part of our team of travel bloggers in Emilia Romagna, staying in a “wellness villa” and busy in the kitchen with an authentic cooking class… Did you miss their story? (Catch up on our last article here).

After a few days, we reunited, where it all began. This Italian region is the beating heart and soul of our journey. The roots that bind us are here and this generous and authentic land is the port we depart from and return to, filled with love for our wonderful country.

This “Grand Tour” of ours, which we have shared with you on this blog, is nearing the end of the summer stages. What a journey it has been!

But did you really think we would stop?

VILLA IL POZZO & TUSCAN POSTCARDS

We have just arrived and set down our bags at the splendid Villa Il Pozzo, in the heart of the Val di Cecina hills, just a stone’s throw from the picturesque village of Montegemoli. This magical place dates back to the 14th century when its castle protected the surrounding salt mines. Can you imagine?

It feels like stepping back in time, and as we climb the scenic road leading to the property, we think about what we would have been like back then… a true dive into the past. Would we still have had the same passion for writing and travel? Would we have dreamed the same dreams? Would we have loved to share such intense experiences as those of a journey among adventurous souls? We are immersed in a timeless Tuscan landscape.

Villa Il Pozzo is set on a private estate of 1,200 hectares, an oasis of tranquillity. Nature lovers can lose themselves on long walks in the woods or hop on a bike, exploring every corner of this enchanting property.

The villa itself is a farmhouse dating back to the 1800s, tastefully restored, retaining that quintessential Tuscan charm with a welcome touch of modernity. Inside the villa, exposed wooden beam ceilings, terracotta floors and stone walls harmoniously blend with contemporary materials and furnishings. An internal walkway elegantly connects the various rooms on the ground floor, giving a sense of continuity throughout the house… You just want to get lost in it…

The furnishings are a skilful mix of modern and vintage French styles, giving the villa a unique and original character.

Outside, there’s a meticulously curated garden with plants typical of the Mediterranean scrub and the Maremma region. The outdoor dining area, paved with terracotta, overlooks the kitchen and indoor dining room, while the pool, just a few steps from the villa, offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills.

It is right here where we loved relaxing, writing a little, chatting until late, then putting on our favourite playlist and letting ourselves go to the summer… Free spirits dancing at sunset… and they have never been so beautiful and happy!

ON THE GO, LET’S GO!

We had the entire property to ourselves, an exclusive and private experience. We can’t wait to get lost in this Tuscan paradise! But our “reunion” in the region where it all began isn’t over yet…

Stay tuned for Part 2! Bags unpacked and packed again, because deep down, our souls are always on the move!
