As 2024 draws to a close, we are reflecting on another highly successful year of villa holidays in Italy for Emma Villas. Our records show that over 48,000 nights were booked. We also welcomed guests from all around the world. Most came from Italy, followed by the United States, Germany, UK and the Netherlands.
Tuscany remained our most popular destination, but there was notable growth in other regions. Sicily saw a remarkable +21% increase in bookings, Puglia grew by +35%, and northern regions like Lake Garda (+6%) attracted increasing interest. These figures reflect both the expansion of our portfolio across Italy, the enduring appeal of Italy’s diverse landscapes and the trust our returning guests place in our carefully curated collection of over 650 properties.
If you are planning your 2025 villa holiday, let us inspire you with the five villas that were most loved by our guests this year, according to our reviews. These properties highlight the variety and quality that define Emma Villas.
Tuscany’s Timeless Allure
We find that many of our guests choose to return to Tuscany every year. Emma Villas is based in Tuscany and this beautiful region remains the cornerstone of our villa collection.
Part of its sought-after appeal lies in its picturesque scenery, enchanting historic towns and artistic heritage, which remain beautifully untouched and protected from overdevelopment. As a backdrop for relaxation with loved ones, it is both attractive and fascinating. Tuscany’s delectable cuisine and wine are also integral to its charm.
Tuscany has a good choice of beautifully converted farmhouses which are now desirable holiday villas. Here are three of our most-loved, larger villas in Tuscany from 2024 which are all ideal for special celebrations and reunions:
1. Borgo Gallinaio
Rated 9.9/10 by guests, Borgo Gallinaio is a magnificent country estate, perfect for large gatherings of up to 26 guests.
What makes it special? It is unusually large, spacious and accommodating for a private villa. With 13 en suite bedrooms which can be doubles or twins, the villa offers a high degree of flexibility and comfort for all ages, unlike many other villas of this size, making it ideal for multi-generational groups.
Our guests also love its traditional Tuscan style, with its terracotta floors, solid wooden furniture, shutters and exposed beams, as well as its practical areas for relaxation and dining. A favourite feature is the expansive terrace, where long tables invite you to dine outdoors under the stars or blue skies, with attractive views of the estate’s olive groves and oaks to admire. Lastly, the location is perfect for visiting Siena, one of Tuscany’s most admired and best preserved medieval cities. Read more about Siena and The Palio.
2. Guado al Sole
Similar in style to Borgo Gallinaio, Guado al Sole also sleeps up to 26 and earned a 9.8/10 rating in 2024.
Apart from its immense size, a highlight of this classic Tuscan villa is its proximity to sandy beaches on the Tuscan Coast as well as historic Tuscan villages and cities. It is an excellent option for families or friends seeking a mix of rural tranquillity, cultural highlights and the sea.
For large groups, its extensive grounds are a big plus, featuring an eye-catching split-level pool and sunny terraces with panoramic views of the surrounding woodlands. The outdoor dining areas are a wonderful setting for long Tuscan meals, whether it’s a barbecue or a feast prepared by a private chef.
3. Villa Le Chiarne
With a 9.8/10 rating, spacious interiors and immaculate gardens, Villa Le Chiarne is perfect for large gatherings. With plenty of well-designed space and grounds for a group of up to 22 guests, it blends classic Tuscan design with luxurious touches, including two heated hydromassage pools in addition to an outdoor pool.
The superb setting of this villa is key to its success too. Situated near the charming hill town of Rapolano Terme, the villa is surrounded by the sublime rolling countryside of the Crete Senesi. Known for its thermal springs and exquisite travertine architecture, it is a fascinating area to explore. With Siena nearby, it is a wonderful setting for exploring interesting sights with ease.
A recent guest review from Villa le Chiarne:
“We celebrated a golden wedding anniversary here, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The setting, the amenities and the authentic Tuscan charm made it a truly special experience.”
