Casavigo is a typical, early 20th century country house of the hill area of Vicenza that was completely renovated in 2009 through the recovery of the original materials.

The materials used for the finishes and the furniture accessories are of the highest standard: handmade terracotta floors, oak parquet in all the rooms, majolica ceramics, marble stairs, Murano glass chandeliers, professional appliances in the kitchen. The property is located in the Vicenza hills in the locality of Vigo, a few kilometres from the town of Sovizzo, in a quiet residential area. Privacy is guaranteed by the fence and the vegetation of the large exclusive garden. In the back part of the villa, with independent access live the caretakers, very discreet people and will not interfere in the guests’ privacy.

Interior

Casavigo has two floors. At the ground floor level, you go from the courtyard to the large portico leading to the entrance that gives access to the dining room next to the open-plan, fully-equipped kitchen and then on to the large living/dining room and a guest bathroom. At one end of the living room a hallway leads to two twin bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. The living area also leads to the TV room. From the dining room, another hallway leads to the gym, the laundry and to a bathroom with shower and Turkish bath. Every room has numerous windows that bestow a particular luminance on the area; the dining room and the kitchen face out to the portico where you can have your meals while looking at the garden. A choreographic staircase in antique marble goes up to the first floor where a hallway leads to the main sleeping area composed of a double bedroom with walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom with marble basin, an art deco cast-iron tub and a mosaic-tiled shower, a master double bedroom with walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom with double basin and shower, all in a particular Provençal style, another double bedroom, a single bedroom with queensize bed and a further bathroom with shower.

Location

The house is located on the hills of Sovizzo in the locality of Vigo; all main services such as bars, restaurants, shops, minimarkets and banks can be found in the town of Sovizzo which lies in a hilly position overlooking the plain at 200 m above sea level and is about 4 km from the house. The area is rich in history and culture: Sovizzo is located 10 km west of Vicenza and its territory extends between the furthest extremities of the southern Lessini Mounts. The landscape is characterised by the regular ridge of the “Monte Mezzo” and the other, more articulated one of “Sovizzo-Alto”, between which lies the long Valle dell’Onte, crossed by the stream of the same name. The plain of Sovizzo constitutes one of the most interesting geomorphological peculiarities of the Vicenza area: at an altitude of several metres lower than the parallel Valle dell’Agno-Guà, the hilly territory of Sovizzo presents a vegetal mantle that alternates wooded areas with large clearings. 13 km away, connected by both train and bus, is the city of Vicenza, a Unesco World Heritage site, known for the elegant buildings designed by Andrea Palladio, the 16th century architect: the Basilica Palladiana and the Palazzo Chiericati, now seat of an art gallery. Nearby, also by Palladio, is the Teatro Olimpico and, on the outskirts of the city, the Villa La Rotonda. For food and wine lovers, the Vicenza area offers numerous products and typical dishes such as Asiago DOP, Morlacco del Grappa and Stravecchio di Malga (cheeses), Soprèssa Vicentina DOP (cured meat) and Baccalà alla Vicentina (salted codfish), typical specialty of the city of Palladio, black truffles of the Berici Hills, mushrooms of the Asiago plateau and chestnuts. The high quality viticulture tradition of the province of Vicenza is evidenced by the production of DOC wines in the areas of “Colli Berici e Vicenza”, “Breganze”, “Gambellara”, “Lessini Durello” and “Arcole”. From the good pomace the renowned Vicenza distilleries produce single-vine grappa and excellent distillates. Lovers of the open air can choose between numerous cycle-pedestrian routes, tennis courts (3 km away), riding stables (3 km away) and golf courses (7 km away): Golf Club Vicenza and Golf Club Colli Iberici. As regards shopping, besides the famous boutiques of Corso Palladio in Vicenza, the Palladio shopping mall is 22 km away, an opportunity for visiting the beautiful historic centre of Vicenza as well. Casavigo is easily reachable by various means of transport: the railway station is 6 km away, the bus stop is 3 km away and the motorway exit of Montebello is 20 km away.
